Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church in Orem is hosting a free public lecture at Provo City Library at 7 p.m. Friday. The presentation will be given in Room 201 at the library, which is at 550 N. University Ave. in Provo. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

LDS Church presents Latino devotional
The annual Latino devotional hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
The 2011 devotional, “En la luz de Su amor,” features a program of devotional music by youth and adult choirs, as well as addresses from LDS Church leaders. Elder Claudio D. Zivic of the First Quorum of the Seventy and area authority Elder Gary B. Doxey, are the featured speakers at this year’s devotional.
“En la luz de Su amor” is free and open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Conference Center is at 60 W. North Temple St. in Salt Lake City.
New ‘Liken the Scriptures’ film released
The “Liken the Scriptures” series of musical films that draw contemporary parallels to stories in ancient scripture has been on hiatus since 2006, but the wait for the next “Liken” title is finally over. The 83-minute film “Jonah and the Great Fish,” featuring singer David Osmond and actor Katharine Nelson (who played the title character of “Emma Smith: My Story”) will be available in stores on Tuesday.
Produced by Provo-based Lightstone Pictures, “Jonah and the Great Fish” was filmed at locations in Utah County, as well as in New York City, and features 10 original songs. Additional information about the series is available at www.likenthescriptures.com online. |
